What do HubSpot consultants do?

A HubSpot consultant scopes, builds and repairs HubSpot portals for your team. The work covers implementations, CRM migrations, integrations, custom objects, automation, reporting and training. The right consultant starts with a written scope that names each deliverable and its price. Next, list the problems your portal has today and the systems it must connect to.

A HubSpot project starts with an inventory of your portal, the tools connected to it and the way your team sells. A consultant reads that inventory before configuring anything. Every later decision in the engagement depends on what it shows.
What a HubSpot consultant does
A consultant designs how your records, pipelines and automation fit together. The same person builds them in your portal and teaches your team to run them. The work falls into 3 kinds:
- Scoping. The consultant maps your processes, data and connected systems, then writes down what gets built.
- Building. The consultant configures the portal, moves data in and connects your other tools.
- Fixing. The consultant follows a broken workflow, report or sync back to where it went wrong before changing it.
At Bryant Works, one HubSpot expert runs your discovery, builds the strategy, implements the portal and trains your team. The architect who leads your first consult stays on as project lead through the build. Everyone at Bryant Works is a full-time employee. We never white-label, and no contractor or freelancer works in your portal.
Projects a HubSpot consultant takes on
Most consulting work falls under one of these project types. Each has its own deliverables and its own typical timeline.
- Implementations. New builds, and rescues of portals that never took hold, including multi-brand and custom-object setups.
- CRM migrations. Moves from Salesforce, Zoho, Pipedrive, Kustomer, Pardot, Microsoft Dynamics, spreadsheets and homegrown tools.
- Integrations. Syncs between HubSpot and systems such as NetSuite, Acumatica, Dynamics or AMS360, built on a native connector, middleware or custom code.
- Custom builds. Custom objects with their associations, plus property sets, pipelines and board views shaped to your data model.
- AI and automation. Custom Breeze agents, custom code actions and AI agents that run on CRM data, email and call transcripts.
- Reporting. Attribution models and dashboards that follow how you sell.
- CMS development. Websites, landing pages, membership portals and partner portals on HubSpot’s CMS. We do the development and no design work.
- Training. Sessions inside the live portal with your real pipelines, plus recorded walk-throughs and written documentation for later hires.
A few client results show the range. For Notable, we migrated 5M+ records from Kustomer into HubSpot, including every email, SMS and custom event. For Levrx, campaign results became visible within 24 hours of a send, down from waits of 2 to 4 weeks. RedBeam relaunched its full website in 3 weeks, with 20+ custom pages and 60+ custom modules. Our services overview lists each solution we deliver.

How a HubSpot consulting engagement runs
Each engagement opens with a written scope and a clear price. During scoping, we confirm that the migration or integration is feasible. Most projects kick off within days of signing.
An implementation then moves through 5 steps:
- Discovery and process mapping. We map the processes your team runs today.
- Tech stack review. We list each tool around HubSpot and how data moves between them.
- Phased build. We build the portal in phases, so each piece gets checked before the next one starts.
- Training on your portal. Your team learns inside the live portal, with real data and pipelines.
- Documentation and handoff. You receive a record of what we built and why we built it that way.
Our process page describes our 5 steps, from Deep Discovery through Train & Support. If the audit uncovers work beyond what the scope covers, we bring you the options with a price for each. Nothing outside the scope starts until you approve it.
What HubSpot consultants cost
Our rates pay for consulting, implementation and support. You buy HubSpot licenses directly from HubSpot, and we recommend the hubs, tiers and features your team needs. The average implementation costs $5K to $7K.
| Plan | Price | Hours | Overage | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Project rate | $225 an hour | 10-hour minimum for new clients | Not applicable | Defined scopes such as implementations, migrations and custom builds |
| Growth Ops | $3,000 a month | 15 hours a month | $200 an hour | 24-hour email response, weekly check-ins |
| Priority Ops | $4,750 a month | 25 hours a month | $190 an hour | Same-day response, quarterly strategy sessions |
Both retainers carry a 3-month minimum. After those 3 months, 30 days’ notice lets you pause or end either one. The pricing page lists the current rates.
An hourly rate says nothing about how many hours a firm needs for the same scope. Compare the written scopes from each consultant before you compare their rates.
How to check a HubSpot consultant’s credentials
Ask each consultant the same questions, so you can compare the answers side by side.
- Partner tier. Ask which HubSpot partner tier the firm holds.
- Accreditations. Ask which accreditations HubSpot has awarded the firm and what each one covers.
- Certifications for your project. For a Salesforce move, ask who on the team holds the Salesforce Integration Certification.
- Who works in your portal. Ask whether employees, contractors or another firm will do the build.
- Security. Ask for SOC 2 Type II and GDPR status before the firm handles your customer data.
- Case studies. Ask for projects in your industry with the client named.
Bryant Works is a HubSpot Diamond Solutions Partner. HubSpot has awarded us the Onboarding, Custom Integration, and Solutions Architecture Design accreditations. Our team holds 200+ HubSpot certifications, including the Salesforce Integration Certification. We hold SOC 2 Type II and are GDPR compliant.
Before your first call with any consultant, write down your active workflows, connected tools and custom properties. That list gives every consultant the same baseline, and it lets you hold each scope against it.
Common questions
What projects does a HubSpot consultant handle?
A HubSpot consultant handles implementations, CRM migrations, integrations, custom builds, automation, reporting and team training. Bryant Works also builds websites, landing pages and portals on HubSpot's CMS. Most implementations run 6 to 12 weeks, and a single integration with a well-documented API typically takes 1 to 3 weeks.
How much does a HubSpot consultant cost?
Bryant Works charges $225 an hour for project work, with a 10-hour minimum for new clients. The Growth Ops retainer costs $3,000 a month for 15 hours, and Priority Ops costs $4,750 a month for 25 hours. Our average implementation costs $5K to $7K. You buy HubSpot licenses separately, directly from HubSpot.
Do I need a HubSpot consultant or an in-house admin?
Bring in a consultant for scoped projects, and hire an admin for the daily upkeep of the portal. Implementations, migrations and integrations fit a consultant's written scope. An admin keeps records, users and workflows in order after the build ends. A retainer such as Growth Ops, at $3,000 a month for 15 hours, can cover builds your admin cannot staff.
How do I find a HubSpot consultant?
You find a HubSpot consultant by shortlisting firms with case studies in your industry and your project type. Ask each firm for its partner tier, its HubSpot accreditations and the names of the people who will work in your portal. Then compare the written scopes side by side before you compare hourly rates.
